January 12: Maestro Andre Raphel Smith

On Tuesday, January 12th at noon, Wheeling Symphony Orchestra Music Director Maestro André Raphel Smith will be at the Ohio County Public Library’s Lunch With Books program to discuss a topic to be announced. Mr. Smith has established himself as an exciting and versatile conductor through innovative programming and a strong commitment to American music. He has been praised by the New York Times as “An agile, demonstrative conductor who is physically drawn into the music.” Mr. Smith has appeared with most of the major American orchestras including Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. Lunch With Books programs are free and open to the public. Patrons are invited to bring a bag lunch and free beverages are provided. Please call the library at 304-232-0244 for more information

Book Discussion Groups

The Ohio County Public Library facilitates book discussion groups for both young adults and adults. Currently, the OCPL offers two adult groups, which meet on the first Monday and third Thursday of each month.

In addition to its own growing collection, the OCPL has access to the book discussion collection of the West Virginia Library Commission.

Meeting of the Minds Philosophy Group
