LUNCH WITH BOOKS, Tuesday, July 16 noon— Beekeeping 101
Steve
Roth of the Tri-State Beekeeper’s Association (tristatebeekeepers.com) will be at Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library in Wheeling on Tuesday, July 16 at
noon to discuss
the basics of the honeybee. The TBA are a
group of hobbyists in Ohio, Marshall, and Belmont counties who are dedicated to
the protection and preservation of the honeybee and to promoting
beekeeping. They put an emphasis on education of the public in the value
of the honeybee as a pollinator and the perils that it now faces, education of
the novice beekeeper in proper management of a colony, and education of the
experienced beekeeper in new concepts and practices while providing a forum
through which they can pass their knowledge and experience to the next
generation. They meet monthly and host local and foster novice beekeepers
through a mentor program. Steve will have with him a sealed observation bee
hive so that attendees can safely see the inner workings of a typical hive up
close. Lunch With Books programs are free and open to the public. Patrons are
invited to bring a bag lunch and free beverages are served. Please call the
library at 304-232-0244 or visit facebook.com/lunchwithbooks for more
information.
